BJ (wrestler)
BJ Whitmer, born Benjamin Whitmer (January 25, 1978), is an American retired professional wrestler and promoter. He is best known for his time in Ring of Honor (ROH), where he was a two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion.
Whitmer began his professional wrestling career in the late 1990s, initially competing in the independent circuit primarily in the Midwest United States. He gained notoriety for his hardcore wrestling style and willingness to take risks in the ring.
He joined Ring of Honor in 2003 and quickly became a prominent figure, participating in memorable feuds and matches against opponents like CM Punk, Jimmy Jacobs, and The Briscoe Brothers. He formed tag teams with Dan Maff (later known as Maff) and Jimmy Jacobs, finding success in the tag team division. His tag team with Maff, known as The Prophecy, was particularly notable.
Whitmer also wrestled for other promotions, including Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and IWA Mid-South, further solidifying his reputation as a respected wrestler in the independent scene.
After retiring from in-ring competition, Whitmer transitioned into a backstage role at ROH, working as a producer and trainer. In this capacity, he contributed to the development of younger talent and the overall production of ROH events.
