Autoette (1910 automobile)
The Autoette was a small, electrically powered automobile manufactured in the United States from approximately 1910 to 1913. Marketed primarily towards women and those seeking a simple, easy-to-operate vehicle for short trips within urban areas, the Autoette was characterized by its light weight, compact size, and tiller steering. Production was based in California. The Autoette came in various models including a runabout and a delivery version. Its limited range and speed, typical of early electric vehicles, eventually led to its decline as gasoline-powered cars became more affordable and offered greater practicality.
