Aradinae
Aradinae is a subfamily of flat bugs (family Aradidae) within the order Hemiptera (true bugs). These insects are characterized by their extremely flattened bodies, allowing them to live under the bark of dead trees, where they feed on fungi. They are primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions. Morphological characteristics often used to distinguish Aradinae from other Aradidae subfamilies include specific features of the antennae, rostrum, and thoracic structures. The subfamily contains a number of genera, with species exhibiting variations in size, shape, and coloration that are often cryptic, providing camouflage against their bark habitat. Detailed taxonomic classification and phylogenetic relationships within the Aradinae are subjects of ongoing research.
