Andy Jones (comedian)

Andy Jones is a Canadian comedian, actor, writer, and director, best known for his work with the CODCO comedy troupe and on the CBC Television series Republic of Doyle.

Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Jones began his career in theatre and comedy, gaining prominence as a member of CODCO alongside Tommy Sexton, Cathy Jones (no relation), Greg Malone, and Mary Walsh. CODCO, known for its satirical and often controversial sketches, tackled social and political issues relevant to Newfoundland and Canada.

Following CODCO's disbandment, Jones continued his career in television and film. He had a recurring role on the popular CBC drama Republic of Doyle as Sgt. Winston Fitzgerald, a somewhat eccentric but competent police officer. He also appeared in various other television shows and movies.

Beyond acting, Jones is also a writer and director. He has contributed to numerous comedy programs and has written and directed his own short films and theatrical productions. His work often reflects his Newfoundland roots and incorporates elements of absurdist humor. He remains a significant figure in Canadian comedy and entertainment.
