Amazing-Man (Centaur Publications)

Amazing-Man was a superhero character published by Centaur Publications during the Golden Age of Comics. Created by Bill Everett, he first appeared in Amazing-Man Comics #5 (September 1939).

Amazing-Man's alter ego was John Aman, an American who, as a child, was rescued by a council of mystic monks in Tibet. These monks trained him to unlock his body's latent abilities, granting him superpowers. These powers included super strength, super speed, invulnerability, the ability to fly, and the ability to project an aura of intense light.

His costume consisted of a green tunic, trunks, and boots, along with a purple cape and a helmet that fully covered his head, leaving only his mouth visible.

Amazing-Man fought various threats, including gangsters, spies, and supernatural entities. His stories often featured a blend of pulp action and mystical elements.

The character's publication run with Centaur was relatively short, lasting only a few issues. He, like many Golden Age heroes from smaller publishers, faded into obscurity for many years. The rights to the character ultimately fell into the public domain.
