Horwich is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it lies about 5.3 miles (8.5 km) northwest of Bolton, 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Manchester, and 27 miles (43 km) east-southeast of Preston.

Horwich is situated near the southwestern edge of the West Pennine Moors. It is known for its industrial heritage, particularly its association with the Horwich Railway Works, a major locomotive engineering facility that operated from 1886 to 1983. The closure of the works significantly impacted the town's economy.

The town's population has grown considerably in recent decades, owing to its proximity to major urban centers and its relatively attractive setting.
