Rathaus station (Hamburg U-Bahn)

Rathaus station is an underground railway station on the Hamburg U-Bahn, located in the Altstadt (old town) district of Hamburg, Germany. It is served by the U3 line. The station is situated directly beneath the Rathausmarkt, the square in front of Hamburg City Hall (Rathaus).

The station opened on March 25, 1912, as part of the original Hamburg U-Bahn network. Its architectural style is characterized by its large, arched platforms and the use of red brick, reflecting the materials of the nearby Rathaus. The station has two side platforms serving two tracks.

Rathaus station is a busy interchange station, primarily due to its central location and proximity to major shopping streets and tourist attractions. It provides easy access to the Rathaus, the Binnenalster lake, and numerous shops and restaurants. The station is also a short walk from other transportation hubs, including Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (main railway station).
