Amédée Gaboury

Amédée Gaboury (1838 - 1912) was a prominent Franco-Manitoban Métis farmer and political figure in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He played a significant role in the agricultural development of the Red River Valley and served as a vocal advocate for Métis rights within Manitoba's political landscape following the Red River Resistance. Gaboury held various local government positions, including councillor for the municipality of Ritchot, and used his platform to champion initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and promoting agricultural practices amongst Métis communities. He was known for his efforts in encouraging the adoption of modern farming techniques and advocating for government support to help Métis farmers adapt to changing economic conditions. Gaboury also actively participated in organizations dedicated to preserving Franco-Manitoban culture and language.
