Button Islands (Andaman Islands)

The Button Islands are a small archipelago belonging to the Andaman Islands, which are themselves part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Union Territory of India. These islands are situated in the Andaman Sea. The Button Islands are characterized by their small size and are primarily known for their dense tropical evergreen forests and rich marine life. The archipelago comprises two main islands: North Button Island and South Button Island.

North Button Island National Park and South Button Island National Park are both located within the Button Islands. These national parks, despite their small size, are important conservation areas. They protect a diverse range of flora and fauna, including dugongs, dolphins, turtles, and a variety of bird species. Due to their protected status and relatively remote location, the Button Islands offer opportunities for nature tourism, particularly for those interested in snorkeling, diving, and observing marine wildlife. Access to the islands is typically restricted and requires permits from the relevant authorities of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration to protect the fragile ecosystems. Human habitation is limited or non-existent on the islands to maintain their ecological integrity.
