Arthur Morris (bishop)
Arthur Morris (1898-1973) was an Anglican bishop. He served as the Bishop of North India from 1958 to 1967.
Born in London, England, Morris received his education at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford, and Wells Theological College. He was ordained as a deacon in 1923 and as a priest in 1924.
Morris began his ministry in India, working as a missionary for the Church Missionary Society (CMS). He held various positions including that of Principal of St. Andrew’s Divinity School, Gorakhpur. He was consecrated Bishop of North India in 1958, a position he held until his retirement in 1967. During his tenure, he oversaw the development of the church in the region and worked to promote interfaith dialogue.
Following his retirement, Morris returned to England. He died in 1973.
