Alf Svensson (guitarist)

Alf Svensson is a Swedish guitarist, best known for his work in the progressive metal band At the Gates.

Svensson was a founding member of At the Gates, forming the band in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1990. He served as one of the band's guitarists from its inception until its initial split in 1996. During this period, he contributed to all of At the Gates' seminal albums, including The Red in the Sky Is Ours, With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness, Terminal Spirit Disease, and Slaughter of the Soul. He is recognized for his melodic yet aggressive playing style, which was a key element in defining the Gothenburg sound of melodic death metal.

Following At the Gates' dissolution, Svensson largely stepped away from the music scene, focusing on other pursuits. When At the Gates reunited in 2007 for a limited run of shows, Svensson participated, playing at various festivals and concerts. He ultimately left the band permanently in 2017. While details regarding his activities outside of At the Gates are limited, his contributions to the band solidified his place as an influential figure in the metal genre.
