Mark Hallett (neurologist)
Mark Hallett is an American neurologist specializing in movement disorders and clinical neurophysiology. He is a Senior Investigator at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, Maryland.
Hallett's research focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of movement disorders, including dystonia, tremor, and myoclonus. He investigates the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying these disorders using techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography (EEG), and electromyography (EMG). His work aims to improve diagnosis, develop new therapies, and enhance the understanding of brain function in both healthy individuals and those with neurological conditions.
Hallett received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his neurology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital.
