Acatenango (horse)
Acatenango was a German Thoroughbred racehorse, foaled in 1982. He was owned by Gestüt Fährhof and trained by Sven von Mitzlaff. Acatenango is best known for his exceptional stamina and dominance in German racing during the mid-1980s.
He won the Deutsches Derby (German Derby) in 1985, a significant achievement that established him as a leading three-year-old in Germany. He went on to win numerous other prestigious races, including the Grosser Preis von Baden on three consecutive occasions (1985, 1986, and 1987), and the Grosser Preis von Europa in 1987.
Acatenango's remarkable consistency and staying power made him a popular and highly respected racehorse. His performances earned him the title of German Horse of the Year multiple times, further solidifying his place in German racing history.
