A37 motorway (Netherlands)

The A37 motorway is a Dutch motorway, running entirely within the province of Drenthe. It connects the A28 motorway near Hoogeveen with the German border near Zwartemeer, where it connects to the German A31. The road is a crucial north-south artery within Drenthe and provides an important link to the Randstad conurbation and the Ruhr area in Germany.

The motorway is approximately 43 kilometers (27 miles) long. Throughout most of its length, the A37 is a two-lane motorway in each direction (2x2), with occasional stretches featuring three lanes (2x3) in each direction. The road passes by several towns and villages, including Hoogeveen, Emmen, and Klazienaveen.

The A37 is numbered as part of the Dutch national highway network, maintained by Rijkswaterstaat, the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. The road is important for both passenger and freight transport, supporting regional economies and facilitating international trade. It also serves as a significant route for tourism within the region.
