883 (band)

883 was an Italian pop rock band formed in Pavia in 1989. Initially known as simply "883," the band's lineup centered around Max Pezzali, who was the primary songwriter and vocalist throughout the band's existence. The name "883" was derived from the Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycle, reflecting the band's connection to youthful, rebellious energy.

The band gained significant popularity in Italy during the 1990s and early 2000s, becoming known for their catchy melodies and lyrics that resonated with a young audience. Their songs often dealt with themes of adolescence, friendship, love, and everyday life experiences.

883 released several successful albums, including "Hanno ucciso l'Uomo Ragno" (1992), "Nord Sud Ovest Est" (1993), "La donna il sogno & il grande incubo" (1995), and "Gli anni" (1998). These albums helped define the sound of Italian pop rock in the 1990s.

While the band technically dissolved as a cohesive unit, Max Pezzali continued to perform their songs under his own name, effectively carrying on the legacy of 883. The music of 883 remains popular in Italy, retaining a strong following among those who grew up listening to their music. Their influence on subsequent generations of Italian pop artists is widely acknowledged.
