1940 Birthday Honours (New Zealand)
The 1940 Birthday Honours in New Zealand were appointments by King George VI to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of New Zealand and other parts of the British Empire. They were announced on 6 June 1940.
The honours celebrated the King's official birthday and recognised service in a variety of fields, including public service, the military, and contributions to the arts and sciences. The specific awards and individuals recognised were published in the New Zealand Gazette. Due to the ongoing Second World War, a significant number of the honours were related to military service or civilian contributions to the war effort.
