166th Division (2nd Formation) (People's Republic of China)
The 166th Division (2nd Formation) was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the People's Republic of China. It was formed in November 1949 in Shanghai.
The division was created using personnel primarily drawn from the 2nd Column of the Northern Jiangsu Military Region. Upon formation, the division was composed of the 496th, 497th, and 498th Regiments.
The 166th Division was initially part of the 56th Army. In April 1952, the 56th Army was disbanded. Subsequently, the 166th Division was transferred to the control of the Shanghai Garrison District.
In May 1958, the 166th Division was disbanded.
