Ōji, Nara
Ōji (王寺町, Ōji-chō) is a town located in Kita-Katsuragi District, Nara Prefecture, Japan.
Geography
Ōji is situated in the northwestern part of Nara Prefecture. It's characterized by relatively flat terrain and is traversed by several rivers, including the Yamato River. The town is positioned near the border with Osaka Prefecture.
History
The area of Ōji has been inhabited since ancient times, with archaeological evidence suggesting activity dating back to the Jomon and Yayoi periods. Historically, the area prospered as a transportation hub due to its strategic location along major roads and rivers. It officially became a town in 1889.
