Zoom (1999 TV series)

Zoom was a children's educational television series that aired on PBS from January 4, 1999, to May 6, 2005. It was a remake of the original Zoom series that aired from 1972 to 1978. The series featured a cast of child performers who collaborated to create and present content for a young audience.

The show's format involved the cast engaging in a variety of activities, including performing skits, conducting science experiments, creating art projects, solving puzzles, and sharing recipes. A significant portion of the content was based on ideas submitted by child viewers.

Zoom emphasized creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. Each episode typically included segments such as "Zoomsci" (science experiments), "Zoomplayhouse" (skits), and "Zoomrap" (a rhythmic segment). The show was known for its fast-paced editing, high energy, and focus on empowering children to be active participants in their own learning and entertainment.

The original cast members of the 1999 revival were: Zoe Costello, Pablo Velez, Caroline "Caro" Conforti, Garrett DiDonato, Frances "Franny" Haugen, Eric "Eric O" O'Neil, David Valle, and Keiko Guest. Over the course of the series, new cast members were added and rotated.

The show's theme song, which was sung by the cast, began with the lyrics "Come on and zoom, zoom, zoom-a Zoom," and encouraged viewers to participate in the show's activities. The show aimed to inspire children to be creative, active, and engaged with the world around them.
