Young Royals (book series)

Young Royals is a series of young adult novels written by Angeline Boulley. The first book in the series, Firekeeper's Daughter, was published in 2021.

The Young Royals series primarily follows Daunis Fontaine, an 18-year-old biracial, unenrolled Ojibwe woman living in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The series explores themes of identity, community, crime, justice, and indigenous culture within a contemporary setting. Firekeeper's Daughter focuses on Daunis's involvement in an FBI investigation into a methamphetamine ring impacting her Ojibwe community.

While only Firekeeper's Daughter has been released as of October 2024, Boulley has announced a sequel, further expanding on Daunis's story and the world introduced in the first novel. The series is known for its authentic representation of Ojibwe culture and language, as well as its exploration of complex social issues.
