You (TV series)
You is an American psychological thriller television series developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. The first season is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, and subsequent seasons adapt other novels in the series and original storylines.
The series follows Joe Goldberg, portrayed by Penn Badgley, a charming but disturbed young man with obsessive tendencies. Each season sees Joe become dangerously infatuated with a new woman, stalking and manipulating her, and removing any obstacles – including people – that stand in his way. He often justifies his actions as acts of love and protection.
The first season premiered on Lifetime in September 2018 before being acquired by Netflix, where subsequent seasons have aired. The show has garnered significant attention for its exploration of themes such as toxic relationships, stalking, social media obsession, and the romanticization of violence. The series has also been praised for Badgley's performance and its suspenseful storytelling.
The main cast also includes Elizabeth Lail (Season 1), Victoria Pedretti (Season 2), Tati Gabrielle (Seasons 3 & 4), and Charlotte Ritchie (Season 4), who portray Joe's objects of affection in respective seasons.
