Xonotic

Xonotic is a free and open-source first-person shooter video game. It is a fork of the Nexuiz project, following a dispute between the original Nexuiz developers and its publisher. Xonotic aims to provide a fast-paced, arena-style shooter experience reminiscent of classic titles like Quake and Unreal Tournament.

The game features a variety of game modes, including deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, and cooperative modes against AI opponents. Xonotic boasts a diverse arsenal of futuristic weapons, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, encouraging strategic weapon selection.

Xonotic is built on a heavily modified version of the Quake engine, known as DarkPlaces. This allows for advanced graphical effects while maintaining relatively low system requirements, making the game playable on a wide range of hardware.

The game is actively developed by a community of volunteers and is available for multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. Xonotic can be downloaded and played for free, and its source code is available under the GNU General Public License.
