Wolf (1955 film)
Wolf is a 1955 West German adventure film directed by Johannes Kai. The film is based on the novel Wolf unter Wölfen (Wolf Among Wolves) by Hans Fallada. The story is set in post-World War I Germany, during the hyperinflation period. It follows the struggles of a former officer, Lieutenant von Prackwitz, to survive in the chaotic economic and social conditions of the time. He becomes entangled with black marketeers, gamblers, and other disreputable characters as he desperately tries to maintain his aristocratic lifestyle and navigate the moral ambiguities of the era. The film explores themes of social decay, economic hardship, and the loss of traditional values in the aftermath of war. It features a cast of notable German actors of the time.
