Wings (1990 TV series)

Wings is an American sitcom television series that aired on NBC from April 19, 1990, to May 14, 1997, for a total of eight seasons and 172 episodes. The show starred Tim Daly and Steven Weber as brothers Joe and Brian Hackett, respectively, who run a small, one-plane airline called Sandpiper Air on the fictional Nantucket Island, Massachusetts.

The series revolves around the day-to-day operations of Sandpiper Air and the lives of its eccentric employees and frequent customers. Key characters include Helen Chapel (Crystal Bernard), a waitress at the airport's lunch counter and Joe's on-again, off-again girlfriend; Lowell Mather (Thomas Haden Church), an oddball mechanic; Fay Cochran (Rebecca Schull), a cheerful and often clueless ticket agent; and Antonio Scarpacci (Tony Shalhoub), an Italian taxi driver.

Wings was known for its ensemble cast and character-driven humor. Recurring themes included the brothers' sibling rivalry, Joe's business struggles, and the romantic tension between Joe and Helen. The show also featured various guest stars throughout its run.

Despite mixed reviews during its initial seasons, Wings gained popularity and became a staple of NBC's Thursday night lineup, often airing after Cheers and later Seinfeld. It received several Emmy nominations and remains popular in syndication.
