William Connell (Australian politician)
William Connell (1846 – 14 June 1937) was an Australian politician. He served as a Member of the Victorian Legislative Council for Nelson Province from 1901 to 1919.
Connell was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, and emigrated to Victoria, Australia, in 1860. He was a farmer and grazier in the Western District of Victoria before entering politics. He was actively involved in local government, serving as a Councillor of the Shire of Minhamite, including multiple terms as Shire President.
In the Legislative Council, Connell was considered a conservative member. He advocated for the interests of rural communities and supported policies aimed at promoting agricultural development. He retired from parliament in 1919. Connell passed away in 1937 at his residence in North Fitzroy, Victoria.
