William A. Moore (Illinois politician)
William A. Moore (1833-1922) was an American politician and lawyer from Illinois. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate.
Born in Montgomery County, Ohio, Moore moved to Illinois in 1854 and settled in Macon County. He studied law and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1856. He practiced law in Decatur, Illinois.
Moore was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1862 and served one term. He was later elected to the Illinois Senate in 1870 and served two terms. In the Senate, he was known for his advocacy for agricultural interests and education. He was a prominent member of the Republican Party.
Beyond his legislative service, Moore was active in local civic affairs and held various positions in Macon County government. He was also involved in the banking industry.
