White Rim Road

The White Rim Road is a 100-mile (160 km) unpaved road that loops around and below the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park in southeastern Utah. It offers stunning views of the surrounding canyons, mesas, and the Colorado and Green Rivers.

The road follows the White Rim Sandstone layer, a geologic formation that creates a prominent bench in the canyon landscape. It is a popular destination for experienced four-wheel-drive vehicle enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and backpackers.

Permits are required for both day and overnight use due to the limited space and fragile desert environment. These permits are typically obtained well in advance through an online reservation system.
