White Plains (band)

White Plains were a British pop band, formed in 1969, best known for their hit single "My Baby Loves Lovin'."

The band was assembled by songwriters Roger Cook and Greenaway (Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway) as a vehicle for their songs. Session singer Tony Burrows, who had previously been involved in similar one-hit wonder projects such as Edison Lighthouse and The Pipkins, was initially the lead vocalist, though he only appeared in promotional material and did not tour with the band.

The official lineup consisted of Pete Nelson (vocals), Ricky Wolff (keyboards), Robin Shaw (guitar), Tony Britton (bass), and Roger Dunn (drums). After "My Baby Loves Lovin'," which reached number 9 in the UK and number 13 in the US in 1970, the band had several further minor hits, including "Julie Do Ya Love Me" (a hit in Australia) and "Every Little Move She Makes."

The band continued to record and tour, with personnel changes, until the mid-1970s. They are primarily remembered for their infectious bubblegum pop sound and the success of their debut single.
