Vonnegut (crater)
Vonnegut is a small lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southwest of the huge walled plain Apollo. To the northeast of Vonnegut is the crater Boone, and to the south is Bhabha.
This crater is roughly circular in shape, with a slightly eroded outer rim. The interior floor is relatively featureless, with no central peak of significant features. A few tiny craterlets lie along the inner walls and floor. It is a relatively unremarkable crater in terms of appearance.
Vonnegut was officially named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1970 after the American writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr., who is notable for his science fiction and satirical novels.
