Viktor Novozhilov (general)
Viktor Novozhilov (Russian: Виктор Новожилов) (February 7, 1919 – January 5, 1992) was a Soviet Army general. He served in various command positions during and after World War II, rising to the rank of General of the Army.
Novozhilov graduated from the Frunze Military Academy. He served as commander of the Leningrad Military District from 1975 to 1985. Prior to this, he held command positions in other military districts. His military career spanned several decades, during which he participated in significant military operations and contributed to the development of Soviet military doctrine.
He received numerous awards and decorations for his service, including orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Patriotic War (1st class), and the Order of the Red Star.
Novozhilov's career represents a significant period in the history of the Soviet armed forces during the Cold War era.
