Sol-fa (album)

Sol-fa is the fourth studio album by Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation, released on October 5, 2004. The album marked a significant shift in the band's sound, incorporating more complex song structures and diverse instrumentation compared to their earlier work. It was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one on the Oricon charts and selling over 500,000 copies.

The album's title, "Sol-fa," is a reference to the solfège system of musical notation. Thematically, the album explores themes of adolescence, societal pressures, and personal growth. Several songs from Sol-fa were later featured in various anime series, further increasing the band's international popularity.

In 2016, Asian Kung-Fu Generation re-recorded Sol-fa with updated arrangements and improved production quality. This re-recorded version, titled Sol-fa 2016, was released on November 30, 2016, and features re-interpretations of the original album's tracks.
