Vehicle (The Ides of March album)
Vehicle is the debut studio album by the American rock band The Ides of March. It was released in 1970 on Warner Bros. Records. The album is named after the band's biggest hit single, "Vehicle," which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The album features a blend of brass-rock, pop, and psychedelic influences. It includes a variety of musical styles and arrangements, showcasing the band's instrumental prowess and songwriting abilities. While "Vehicle" remains the band's signature song and a defining track of the album, other songs like "Superman," "Roller Coaster," and "Factory Band" also received airplay and contributed to the album's overall success.
Vehicle achieved considerable commercial success, driven largely by the popularity of its title track. It peaked at number 55 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album helped solidify The Ides of March's place in the late 1960s and early 1970s music scene, particularly within the brass-rock genre. Despite the band's later lineup changes and eventual disbandment (and subsequent reformation), Vehicle remains a significant part of their discography and a nostalgic touchstone for many fans of the era.
