Valery Plotnikov (footballer)
Valery Plotnikov (born March 2, 1956) is a retired Soviet and Ukrainian football player and coach. He primarily played as a defender.
Plotnikov spent the majority of his playing career in Ukraine, most notably with FC Metalist Kharkiv. He joined Metalist in 1978 and became a key member of the team that won the USSR Cup in 1988. He also played for other Ukrainian clubs, including Mayak Kharkiv and Zirka Kirovohrad.
After retiring as a player, Plotnikov transitioned into coaching. He has coached various Ukrainian clubs, including Metalist Kharkiv's reserve team and Helios Kharkiv. He has also held positions within the Metalist Kharkiv academy, contributing to the development of young players. His coaching career has largely been focused on developing youth talent and working within the Ukrainian football system.
