Erma Elzy

Erma Elzy (born circa 1915, died April 10, 2015) was an American educator and community activist, primarily known for her extensive work in Head Start programs in Mississippi. She dedicated decades to early childhood education, serving as a teacher, administrator, and advocate for disadvantaged children.

Elzy's career was largely centered in the Mississippi Delta region, where she worked to improve educational opportunities for African American children in historically underserved communities.
