William Hutt (actor)
William Hutt (June 2, 1920 – June 30, 2007) was a highly acclaimed Canadian actor renowned for his extensive work in classical theatre, particularly his long association with the Stratford Festival of Canada. He was considered one of Canada's greatest stage actors.
Hutt's career spanned several decades, during which he played a wide range of roles from Shakespearean tragedies to contemporary works. He joined the Stratford Festival in 1953, its inaugural season, and remained a cornerstone of the company for many years. His portrayals of characters such as King Lear, Prospero, and Hamlet were highly praised.
