Urbosa
Urbosa was a Gerudo warrior and one of the four Champions chosen by Princess Zelda to pilot the Divine Beasts in the fight against Calamity Ganon 100 years before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Role and Significance:
As the Gerudo Champion, Urbosa was responsible for piloting the Divine Beast Vah Naboris, a massive mechanical camel located in the Gerudo Desert. She was renowned for her combat prowess, wisdom, and motherly relationship with Princess Zelda. Urbosa acted as a mentor and confidante to the princess, providing her with guidance and support during Zelda's struggles to awaken her sealing power. Her role within the Champions was to provide not only military strength but also emotional support to the young princess.
Abilities:
Urbosa possessed the unique ability to summon powerful lightning strikes. This power, known as "Urbosa's Fury," allowed her to unleash devastating electrical attacks upon her enemies. This ability is later inherited by Link after he defeats Thunderblight Ganon within Vah Naboris.
History:
Urbosa was a close friend of Zelda's mother and took on a maternal role for the princess after her passing. She witnessed Zelda's struggles to unlock her power and offered comfort and advice. During the Great Calamity, Urbosa piloted Vah Naboris against Ganon's forces, but she was ultimately defeated and killed by Thunderblight Ganon, which had infested the Divine Beast. Her spirit remained trapped within Vah Naboris until Link arrived to liberate it.
Legacy:
Urbosa is remembered as a legendary Gerudo warrior, a wise advisor, and a fiercely loyal friend. Her dedication to protecting Hyrule and her unwavering support for Princess Zelda cemented her place in Hyrulean history. Her spirit, upon being freed by Link, aids him in his final battle against Calamity Ganon, and she ultimately passes on her power, Urbosa's Fury, to him, ensuring her legacy of strength and protection endures.
