Unasuchus
Unasuchus is an extinct genus of atoposaurid crocodyliform from the Late Jurassic period. Fossils attributed to Unasuchus have been discovered in the Morrison Formation of North America.
Atoposaurids were small, semi-aquatic crocodyliforms, superficially resembling modern dwarf crocodiles. Unasuchus is characterized by features such as its small size and relatively broad skull. Its exact phylogenetic placement within Atoposauridae has been subject to debate due to the incompleteness of the fossil record. Further discoveries and analyses are needed to fully understand its evolutionary relationships and unique characteristics. The genus provides insight into the diversity and distribution of crocodyliforms during the Late Jurassic.
