USS Newport News (SSN-750)

The USS Newport News (SSN-750) is a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast attack submarine in the United States Navy. She is the second U.S. Navy vessel to be named for the city of Newport News, Virginia, a major shipbuilding center.

SSN-750 was built by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (now Huntington Ingalls Industries) in Newport News, Virginia. Her keel was laid down on March 3, 1984, and she was launched on March 23, 1985. The USS Newport News was commissioned on June 3, 1989.

As a Los Angeles-class submarine, SSN-750 is designed for a variety of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, strike warfare, intelligence gathering, and surveillance.
