USS Fresno (CL-121)
The USS Fresno (CL-121) was a Juneau-class light cruiser of the United States Navy. She was commissioned in 1946, too late to see active service in World War II.
Fresno primarily served in the Atlantic Fleet and Mediterranean Sea during the Cold War. Her duties typically involved fleet exercises, goodwill tours, and providing a naval presence in areas of strategic interest. She participated in numerous NATO exercises.
The ship was equipped with twelve 6-inch guns in four triple turrets, along with various anti-aircraft armament. She also carried radar and sonar equipment for detection and tracking.
Fresno was decommissioned in 1949, placed in reserve, and later stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1965. She was subsequently sold for scrap in 1966. Although her active service was relatively short, she represented a significant part of the U.S. Navy's post-war fleet and contributed to Cold War naval operations.
