UBI Banca

UBI Banca (Unione di Banche Italiane S.p.A.) was an Italian banking group. It was Italy's fifth-largest banking group by total assets before being acquired by Intesa Sanpaolo in 2020.

UBI Banca was formed in 2007 through the merger of Banche Popolari Unite (BPU) and Banca Lombarda e Piemontese. The group comprised a network of cooperative banks, primarily operating in the northern regions of Italy, including Lombardy, Piedmont, and Veneto.

UBI Banca offered a range of retail, corporate, and investment banking services, including deposit accounts, loans, mortgages, wealth management, and investment products.

In 2020, Intesa Sanpaolo launched a public exchange offer for UBI Banca. The offer was successful, and Intesa Sanpaolo acquired a majority stake in UBI Banca. Subsequently, UBI Banca was merged into Intesa Sanpaolo, ceasing to exist as an independent entity.
