Tropical Storm Nakri (2014)

Tropical Storm Nakri was a weak but long-lived tropical cyclone that formed in the western Pacific Ocean in late July 2014. It developed from a tropical disturbance east of the Philippines and gradually intensified into a tropical storm, receiving the name Nakri from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).

Nakri tracked generally northwestward, remaining over open waters for much of its lifespan. While the storm did not directly impact any major landmasses, it brought heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. Effects were relatively minor, mainly consisting of localized flooding and transportation disruptions.

The storm reached its peak intensity on July 29, 2014, with maximum sustained winds estimated at 45 knots (50 mph; 85 km/h). After reaching its peak, Nakri began to weaken due to unfavorable atmospheric conditions. It eventually dissipated on August 2, 2014, well east of Japan.

Overall, Tropical Storm Nakri (2014) was a relatively unremarkable tropical cyclone due to its weak intensity and lack of direct impact on populated areas. While it posed a brief threat to shipping lanes in the region, its effects were limited.
