Tor (comics)
Tor is the name of a comic book character created by Joe Kubert, debuting in 1953. He is a prehistoric caveman, a Cro-Magnon, living in a world populated by dinosaurs and other extinct creatures.
Publication History:
Tor first appeared in 1,000,000 Years Ago #1 (November 1953), published by St. John Publications. This was a one-shot comic. Kubert later revived the character at DC Comics with Tor #1 (September 1975). This series lasted for six issues. A third iteration of the character appeared in Tor #1 (December 1993), published by Marvel Comics as part of their Epic Comics imprint. This series, also written and drawn by Kubert, ran for eight issues.
Character Biography:
Tor is typically depicted as a strong and resourceful Neanderthal (later retconned to Cro-Magnon) surviving in a harsh prehistoric environment. He possesses incredible strength, agility, and tracking skills, allowing him to overcome the dangers of his world, which include predatory dinosaurs, sabertooth tigers, and rival tribes. He usually wears a simple loincloth and wields a crude club or stone axe.
