Harry Woods (actor)
Harry Woods (May 5, 1889 – December 28, 1968) was an American character actor. He was primarily known for his roles as a villain in a wide range of films, particularly Westerns, serials, and B-movies, from the silent era through the 1950s.
Woods began his career in the silent film era, appearing in films such as The Great Circus Mystery (1925). He transitioned successfully to sound films and became a prolific performer throughout the 1930s and 1940s. He frequently portrayed bank robbers, crooked sheriffs, and other antagonistic figures. Some notable film appearances include She Done Him Wrong (1933), The Hurricane Express (1932), The Black Cat (1934), Stagecoach (1939), His Girl Friday (1940), Meet John Doe (1941), and The Killers (1946).
He also appeared in numerous serials, often as the lead villain, and his distinctive, often snarling, features and gruff voice made him a memorable screen presence. Woods's career slowed down in the 1950s, but he continued to work in both film and television until his retirement. He died in 1968.
