The Rocker (film)
The Rocker is a 2008 American comedy film directed by Peter Cattaneo and starring Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate, Josh Gad, Teddy Geiger, and Emma Stone. The film tells the story of Robert "Fish" Fishman (Wilson), a drummer who was kicked out of his 1980s hair metal band, Vesuvius, just before they hit it big. Twenty years later, Fish gets a second chance at fame when he joins his teenage nephew's high school rock band, A.D.D., as their drummer.
The film follows A.D.D.'s unexpected rise to popularity after a viral video of Fish playing drums naked gains them widespread attention. As A.D.D. embarks on a nationwide tour, Fish's larger-than-life personality and antics clash with the band's teenage members, leading to both humorous and poignant moments as they navigate the challenges of fame and personal growth. The film explores themes of second chances, generational differences, and the pursuit of dreams.
The Rocker features original songs and performances, and includes cameo appearances from several musicians and celebrities. While not a critical darling, the film garnered some positive reviews for its lighthearted humor and Wilson's performance. It was released theatrically in August 2008.
