John Browne (1696–1750)

John Browne (1696–1750) was an English divine and academic. He served as Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, from 1743 until his death in 1750. Little is widely known about his early life or scholarly achievements prior to his appointment as Master. He was elected to the position after the death of Roger Long and presided over the college for seven years. During his tenure, he likely oversaw the routine administration of the college and participated in university governance.
