The Lost (band)

The Lost were an American garage rock band formed in New York City in 1964. They are primarily known for their raw and energetic sound, characteristic of the early garage rock movement.

The band's original lineup consisted of lead singer and guitarist Roger "Whitey" Stawski, lead guitarist Pete Wyoming Bender, bassist Gus Mosser, and drummer Robert "Bob" Liggio. They quickly gained a local following, performing extensively in clubs and venues across the New York metropolitan area.

The Lost signed with Mercury Records and released several singles, including "Maybe More Than You," "Zig Zag Wanderer," and "Everybody Knows It." While these tracks did not achieve significant national chart success at the time, they have since become highly regarded by garage rock enthusiasts and collectors. "Zig Zag Wanderer" is particularly noted for its frenetic energy and psychedelic undertones, and has been covered by other bands.

The band's music is characterized by its fuzz-toned guitars, raw vocals, and driving rhythm section. They drew influence from British Invasion bands like The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds, as well as American blues and R&B.

Despite their energetic live performances and a handful of well-regarded recordings, The Lost disbanded in the late 1960s. The members went on to pursue other musical projects and careers.

In the years since their original run, The Lost's music has been rediscovered and celebrated through compilation albums and reissues, solidifying their place in garage rock history. Their recordings remain influential to subsequent generations of musicians.
