History:
The Stratton Mountain ski resort was founded in 1961 by Frank Snyder. It was one of the first major ski resorts developed in Vermont after World War II and played a significant role in the development of the state's ski industry. Stratton Mountain is also often cited as the place where snowboarding gained early acceptance as a legitimate snow sport.
