State of Affairs (TV series)

State of Affairs is an American political drama television series that aired on NBC from November 17, 2014, to February 16, 2015. The series stars Katherine Heigl as CIA analyst Charleston "Charlie" Tucker, who briefs the President of the United States daily on the most pressing national security issues.

The series revolves around Charlie's work at the CIA, particularly her complex relationship with President Constance Payton (Alfre Woodard), whose son, Aaron, was Charlie's fiancé and was killed in a terrorist attack. The show explores Charlie's dedication to preventing future attacks while also dealing with the emotional trauma of her personal loss. The storylines often involve Charlie and her team racing against the clock to identify and neutralize threats, navigating bureaucratic obstacles within the government, and dealing with the moral ambiguities inherent in espionage and counter-terrorism.

The supporting cast includes Adam Kaufman as Lucas Newsome, Sheila Vand as Maureen James, Cliff Chamberlain as Nick Vera, and Tommy Savas as Dashiell Greer. The series was created by Joe Carnahan.

State of Affairs was cancelled by NBC after one season due to low ratings.
