St. Thomas's Church (old), Dublin

St. Thomas's Church (old) was a Church of Ireland parish church located on Marlborough Street in Dublin, Ireland. It was one of six churches erected in Dublin following the Church Act 1665, which aimed to establish the Church of Ireland's presence and influence in the city. Construction began in 1666 and the church was consecrated in 1703.

The original St. Thomas's Church stood as a prominent landmark for over a century and a half, serving a significant portion of Dublin's Protestant population. Over time, the building fell into disrepair and became inadequate for the growing congregation.

In the 1860s, a decision was made to demolish the old church and replace it with a larger, more modern structure on the same site. This new church, also named St. Thomas's, was designed by Thomas Drew in a Victorian Gothic style. The original St. Thomas's Church (old) was therefore completely removed to make way for its successor.

The site of the old church is now occupied by the later St. Thomas's Church, which continued to serve as a place of worship until its deconsecration in 1988. The building was subsequently converted into office space and is now known as St. Thomas's House. Therefore, the original structure no longer exists.
