Spring Break (film)
Spring Break is a 1983 American sex comedy film directed by Sean S. Cunningham. The film follows the misadventures of four college friends during their spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The quartet consists of Nelson, a socially awkward pre-med student; O.T., a boisterous party animal; Stu, the level-headed leader; and Snerd, the group's resident nerd.
Their vacation plans are initially hampered by Nelson's shyness and the constant presence of a rival group of preppy antagonists led by Eddie. The friends navigate various comedic situations involving romantic pursuits, practical jokes, and run-ins with local law enforcement.
The film is characterized by its raunchy humor, ample displays of nudity, and depiction of stereotypical spring break antics. Key plot points include Nelson's attempts to lose his virginity, the group's competitive rivalry with Eddie and his friends for the affections of women, and the overall pursuit of a wild and carefree vacation experience.
The film's soundtrack features upbeat pop and rock songs prevalent in the early 1980s. While not critically acclaimed, Spring Break became a minor box office success and contributed to the popularization of the spring break film genre, paving the way for similar movies throughout the decade. The movie also stars David Knell, Perry Lang, Paul Land, and Steve Bassett.
